Creativity and Faith
June 1, 2025, 12:00 AM

For the past couple of years, I have been interested in the intersection of faith and creativity. I have wondered about how working on creative projects may work to unlock new and different ways of looking at faith, scripture, and the Church.

I say regularly that when kids’ hands are busy, their ears are open and listening in worship. It’s like a key unlocking the way their brain works. Could exploring creativity as an adult do something similar inside us?

While knitting is my go-to creative outlet, I have recently tried to take up sewing (though I still cannot really sew a straight line well). I have also wondered about going completely out of my comfort zone and taking a color-theory class to see what new layers of creativity may be tapped into through that lens.

With this in mind, when I saw a worship series with the subtitle, “Living our Creative Life with God,” I had to look at it more!

So many people think and say they are not creative, but if we are made in the image of God, and God created us- there must be some level and type of creativity inside us somewhere. Creativity comes in all shapes and sizes. It is not something just for a child to have and use. Each and every one of us has creativity somewhere within us. On June 22nd, we will start the series ‘Drawn In: Living our Creative Life with God.” I hope that you will join us for this worship series.
